Dance Academy raises £900.66 for
Children in Need.

On Saturday 19th November in the Eric Morecambe Theatre, Public Halls Harpenden, a very enthusiastic audience enjoyed a three hour long Variety Show produced by the "Sarah Andrews Dance Academy". The show, consisting of Ballet, Tap and Modern Dance, Singing and Comedy, was performed by students aged from 3 years old to adult, with guest artistes Lauren and Alex Bird, who at just 18 and 16 yrs have already made a name for themselves, with appearances in the West End Musicals, "Les Miserables", "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", "Whistle Down The Wind" and "Tommy". Also appearing as a Guest Artiste was Fiona Wilkie, with many theatre performances to her credit including "Mary Magdalene" in "Jesus Christ Super Star" and as a member of the National Youth Choir for over ten years. Fiona’s powerful and melodic voice left the students gasping with envy in the wings.
The first prize of a holiday for up to six people donated by Bourne Leisure was drawn by Mrs Joan Morecambe, who is also a local patron of "Save the Children". Miss Sarah, principal of the Academy, was overwhelmed when the final figure was calculated, and applauded their hard work and support. She said "Considering we are just starting our third year, with a growing number of 63 students, it’s amazing that so much money has been raised".
